Area Roundup: Bratvold, Sparavalo set to join EWU women’s basketball

Amy Bratvold and Tatjana Sparavalo have signed letters of intent to attend Eastern Washington University and play for the women’s basketball team, head coach Wendy Schuller announced Thursday.

Bratvold graduated from Twin Falls (Idaho) High before playing at Southern Idaho. At CSI, she was named to the National Junior College Athletic Association All-Region 18 team while averaging 10 points in her sophomore year.

Sparavalo, a 6-foot guard from Kostic Gymnasium High in Novi Sad, Serbia, most recently played for Basketball Club Voivodina Novi Sad.

“Five high school players have signed letters of intent to join the University of Idaho’s women’s basketball team, coach Mike Divilbiss announced.

The group includes guard Carli Bakondy of Texas; wing Emily Doran of Corvallis, Ore.; wing Rachel Kloke of Stanwood, Wash.; post Yinka Olorunnife of Canada; and post La’Kenya Simon-West of California.

Baseball

Patterson Baseball Complex and Washington Trust Field, the new home of the Gonzaga baseball team, will be officially dedicated today when the Bulldogs host Saint Mary’s.

Director of Athletic Relations and former baseball coach Steve Hertz will emcee the pregame ceremonies, which begin at 5:45 p.m. with the first pitch at 6 p.m.
