Thursday’s AL results
Red Sox 5, Blue Jays 3: At Toronto, Manny Ramirez and Alex Cora sent Boston home with a victory heading into their first series of the year against the New York Yankees. Ramirez hit a tying, two-run homer in the eighth inning, Cora had a go-ahead triple in the ninth and the Red Sox beat Toronto. Coco Crisp reached on a bunt single leading off the eighth, and Ramirez hit his first homer of the season.
White Sox 6, Rangers 4: At Chicago, Joe Crede hit a go-ahead single in a three-run eighth inning, leading the White Sox over Texas. A.J. Pierzynski hit a three-run homer in the fourth and Rob Mackowiak had a two-run homer in the eighth inning for Chicago. Sammy Sosa hit his 592nd career homer, his fourth of the season for the Rangers.
Yankees 8, Indians 6: At New York, Alex Rodriguez hit a three-run, two-out homer that capped a comeback from a four-run deficit in the ninth inning, giving the Yankees a victory over Cleveland.
