Man arrested after wife’s house rammed

The Spokesman-Review

An angry man demanding a cigarette allegedly rammed his truck into his estranged wife’s Coeur d’Alene garage this morning, propelling another vehicle through the wall and into a bedroom.

Coeur d’Alene police arrested Eric D. Marienau, 48, for aggravated assault, DUI and felony malicious injury.

According to police, Marienau arrived at about 7 a.m. at his wife Caroline Marienau’s home at 3501 N. 12th Street, at which time he parked his car and began loudly yelling for her to bring him a cigarette.

The two are in the process of a divorce.

Caroline Marienau stayed inside the home with her daughter and a male friend as Eric Marienau banged on the door and continued shouting, saying he would ram the house with his truck if she didn’t come out.

A few minutes later Eric Marienau allegedly drove his Chevy truck into the home at least three times.

The force was enough to send a 1993 Ford Ranger parked in the garage four feet into a bedroom.

No one was injured, but there was extensive damage to the home.

Marienau also had two cans of gas in his truck along with a gas-soaked rag.

Police are still investigating the incident.
