Get out, get going

Kick cancer

The 2007 Washington State Karate Championships today at Central Valley High School will benefit the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation. The tournament will feature karate students of all levels and ages from around the region.

The all-day event, hosted by Elite Martial Arts, will begin at 10 a.m. at the school, at 821 S. Sullivan Road. Registration begins at 9 a.m. The price for competitors is $39.99, which includes all events. Spectators are $10 per person; children under 5 will be admitted free.

All that jazz

A dessert and auction set for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday will benefit the Central Valley High School band and color guard. There will be live jazz music and plenty of items up for bid. Admission is $10 in advance or $15 at the door. Student admission is $5. The event will be at the school, 821 S. Sullivan Road. Call 220-2331 for more information.

Say cheese

Otis Orchards Elementary School will host a rummage sale today to raise money for the school's yearbook. The sale will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the school, 22000 E. Wellesley. Any funds remaining will be put in the school's playground equipment fund.
