Circle of Security Project
On the Web: circleofsecurity.org
More than 10,000 people throughout the world — psychologists, nurses, family therapists, police officers, foster parents, and others who work with children — have received introductory training in the Circle of Security model. This month alone, dozens have traveled to Spokane from as far away as Norway, Japan and Germany for a 10-day training session with its founders — Glen Cooper, Kent Hoffman and Bert Powell.
Circle of Security also has been incorporated into training programs at the University of Maryland, Tulane University and other higher education institutions, including some in Australia, Israel and other parts of the world.
And, in 2000, the program received the Washington State Governor’s Child Abuse Prevention Award from then-Gov. Gary Locke and the Washington Council for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect.
