Name: Pat Harlow and Akea

Age: 63. Akea is 13.

Hometown: Malta, Mont. I lived there until I was 10, then moved to Fairfield, Mont., then Bigfork, Mont., then to Santa Cruz, Calif., in 1963. That’s where I met my husband. We moved to Days Creek, Ore., in 1972, and came here six years later.

Occupation: I’m a retired chef, but my husband and I have started Howling Hills farm. We raise organic food.

Family: My husband Rick. Our son Mike, 32, lives in Coeur d’Alene, and Ben, 29, is in Moscow.

Hobbies: Gardening, crafting, cooking and dogs. We have nine including Akea, who’s a therapy dog for Hospice of North Idaho.

What do you like about North Idaho? The mountains. We live close to Rose Lake and just love it out there.

What do you like or dislike about the current season? I don’t like the intense heat of summer.

Favorite music: The oldies from the ‘50s and ‘60s and classical

Favorite TV show: I like everything on the Food Network.

Favorite movie: I don’t have time to watch movies.

Favorite spot in North Idaho? Why? My favorite spot is our home. We just love it there. It’s beautiful with the mountains, rivers and all the birds.
