Bluegrass concert tonight
The Panhandle Polecats, a bluegrass group made up of members in a Rathdrum family, will give a free outdoor concert from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight in the Post Falls Library’s Courtyard.
Next Thursday another bluegrass band, Columbia, will perform at the same time and same place.
New store offers all Disney all the time
A new outlet store in Post Falls carries all Disney all the time.
The AMS Character Warehouse Outlet Store is stocked with Disney-themed gifts, toys, pins, clothing and much more. All items are from Disney Resorts but are sold at reduced prices.
Clothing, watches and 50th Anniversary memorabilia also stock the shelves.
The store joins other retailers at The North Idaho Outlets, located on I-90 at exit 2.
Hayden Lake
Sale to benefit Alzheimer’s patients
An upcoming yard sale in Hayden Lake will give shoppers the opportunity to buy treasures while contributing to the Alzheimer’s Association.
The sale will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 18 in the By The Lake Assisted Living Center parking lot at 1027 E. Honeysuckle Ave.
If you’d like to donate items for the sale, donations will be accepted through next Thursday. For more information, call the center at 762-3828.
Proceeds will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association in connection with its 2007 North Idaho Memory Walk, to be held Sept. 29 at Farragut State Park east of Athol. The Memory Walk will start at 10 a.m. and a doggie walk will begin at 10:05.

Man beaten; two arrested
Rathdrum police officers this week arrested two young Rathdrum area men for allegedly beating and trying to steal marijuana from an 18-year-old Rathdrum area resident late Saturday night.
Police Chief Kevin Fuhr said Gerald Rate and Lyal Howell, both 22, were charged with aggravated battery and robbery and booked into the Kootenai County jail.
According to the police report, the two met Derek Hague behind Stein’s IGA Saturday evening to buy marijuana. During the deal, they allegedly beat Hague with a wooden sledgehammer handle and kicked him with their boots in an attempt get away without paying for the drugs.
Hague suffered severe injuries about his head and face. After the incident, he wandered into the grocery store for help. He was taken to Kootenai Medical Center and later transferred to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane.
