Two-time Golden Glove headlines House of Fury
Two-time Golden Glove and national amateur champion Shaun George meets Mathew Charleston in the headliner for tonight’s boxing card at the Coeur d’Alene Casino’s House of Fury.
George, of Brooklyn, N.Y., brings a 14-2-2 record with six knockouts. Charleston, from Stone Mountain, Ga., is 25-16-2 with 14 knockouts. Their 187-pound match is scheduled for eight rounds.
The bout replaces the original co-main event that was to feature heavyweights Mike Marrone and Joe Stoffle. Marrone had to cancel after the death of his brother in a Florida traffic accident, according to the fight promoters. Marrone is managed by long-time boxing figure Lou Duva, who also handles George.
Also, Favio Medina of Sandpoint will put his record of 14-1-2 and six knockouts on the line against Billy Gates (9-7, 8 KOs) of Mobile, Ala., in a 10-round, co-main event at 148 pounds.
The undercard features a pair of Portland fighters matched up with two from Browning, Mont., in a pair of six-round bouts. Sam Haynes (4-2, 3 KOs) of Portland takes on Adrian Herman (2-1, 1 KO) at 168 pounds. At 154 pounds, Able Perry (7-0, 3 KOs) of Portland will fight Jesse Salway (2-5-1).
At heavyweight, Shane Andreesen (6-0, 3 KOs) of Qualicam Beach, B.C., faces Shawn Kocab (3-2, 1 KO) of Billings.
Angie Dauenhaur (1-0-1) of Boise meets Janna Simms (0-1-1) of Portland at 154 pounds.
The doors open at 6 p.m. with the fights beginning at 7.
