Youths invited on Farragut field trip

Spirit Lake kids ages 11 and up are invited to attend a free Saturday field trip to Farragut State Park on Lake Pend Oreille.

Transportation will be provided by Spirit Lake’s Youth Equipped for Success group, an organization for area youth.

Meet at 11 a.m. at Quality Services Inc. office at 5864 W. Main St. At the park, grilled hot dogs and all the fixings will be served.

Bring swimwear, a towel and comfortable hiking clothes, said program coordinator Crystal Owens. She said kids will return to the Quality Services office about 5 p.m.

Twin Lakes

Annual yard sale planned

The Twin Lakes Village Ladies Activity Committee is throwing its annual yard sale on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Furniture, house wares, sporting equipment and books will be for sale in the parking lot of Sid’s Mini Mart at the entrance to Twin Lakes Village on Highway 41. Money raised will go towards funding a Lakeland School Scholarship Fund.

Post Falls

Fundraiser to benefit kids club

A group of area volunteers will spearhead fundraising efforts on behalf of the Boys and Girls Club of Kootenai County.

The capital campaign committee will be led by chairwoman Eve Knudtsen of Knudtsen Chevrolet. She’ll be joined by Ron Nilson of Ground Force Manufacturing, Eden Moreland of Range, Greg Gervais of Copper Basin Construction, Cyndie Hammond of Lewis and Clark State College, Michael Jorgenson of the Idaho State Senate, Cort Wilcox of D.A. Davidson and Co. and Ryan Davis, director of the Boys and Girls Club.

The goal is to raise $2 million in funds to help pay for construction of a 20,000-square-foot club in Post Falls. About $1 million in cash and pledges have been secured already.

Boys and Girls Club Center would primarily serve disadvantaged youth from Kootenai County.

Police hosting family day

Don’t miss “Kids & Cops” family day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Post Falls Police Department, 1717 E. Poleston Ave.

There will be all sorts of free activities, cookies and punch, tours of the headquarters operation, a bicycle rodeo, face painting and a scavenger hunt.

While the kids are busy, adults can learn about the OASIS program, Block Watch, VIPs, DARE, Police Officer Reserves, proper car seat installation tips and child ID kits.
