Cox ejected, adds to record

Bobby Cox didn’t take long to add to his record for most ejections.
One night after he surpassed John McGraw, the Atlanta Braves manager was tossed Wednesday for arguing a balk call against Tim Hudson.
It was the 133rd ejection of Cox’s career. He picked up his 132nd in the opener of a series against the San Francisco Giants, eclipsing the mark initially set by McGraw, the Hall of Famer known as “Little Napoleon,” who spent his long managing career with the New York Giants in the early part of the 20th century.
Eye on China
With Asia on the minds of baseball officials, the sport’s chief operating officer still wants to push ahead with exhibition games in China next year in addition to opening the regular season at the Tokyo Dome.
The players’ association granted management another postponement in the deadline for the 2008 draft schedule, which already had been pushed back from June 30 to Aug. 15. The possibility of having the Boston Red Sox start next season at the Tokyo Dome against an A.L. West team has been discussed, with Oakland, Seattle and the Los Angeles Angels getting consideration.
Yankees plan memorial
Yankees fans should get one more chance to cheer Scooter at the ballpark he called home for more than six decades.
Plans are in the works to host a memorial service at Yankee Stadium for Phil Rizzuto, the baseball Hall-of-Famer turned broadcasting legend that died late Monday night at the age of 89.
Details for the service are still being worked out, but it is expected to take place this season, a Yankees spokesman said.
