New staff will join Cheney schools

Cheney Public Schools has announced new staff members and several reassignments.

At Cheney High School, Ray Picicci will serve as the new assistant principal of curriculum and instruction.

Allen Skoog will work as an agricultural education teacher. He formerly was an assistant principal.

Corey Anderson and John Michel are new counselors, Sina Kirk will teach science, Jennifer Clark and Gregg Smith will teach health and fitness, Sherry Syrie will teach visual arts part time at the high school and part time at the middle school and Tammy Miller has been hired as a registrar.

At Cheney Middle School, Tim Dater will teach language arts/reading/math. Debra Triplett will be a special-education teacher.

At Betz Elementary School, Samantha Winchell will be a counselor (splitting duties there and at Sunset Elementary School), Barbara Curtis will be a music specialist, Joanne Morgan will teach second-graders and Diane Stevens will teach fourth-graders.

Reid Elementary School has hired Dave Petty as a part-time administrative coordinator. Kathy Walker will teach third-graders.

Jeanice Peterson will be a special-education teacher at Salnave Elementary School.

Sunset Elementary School has several new staff members, led by Sean Dotson, who will be the school’s new principal.

Alison Hilton will teach first-graders, Scott Frederick will teach third-graders and Tamera Johnson will teach a fourth- and fifth-grade combination class.

Cynthia Riemann has been hired as an instructional literacy coach (Title I), Samantha Winchell will be a counselor (splitting duties there and at Betz Elementary School), Myia Hackett will be a special-education teacher, Karen Azzinnaro will be an instructional math coach (Title I), Jean Forrester will teach preschoolers, Stevie Bender will teach kindergartners and Lani Morgan and Laurie Martin will be para-educators in the preschool program.

At Windsor Elementary School, Jennifer Fisher, Alexander Mitchell and Eileen Ayersman will teach fourth-graders. Stephanie Yanuszeski will teach fifth-graders, and Kristen Schmidt will teach fifth-graders half time. Lisa Lordan will teach two sections of kindergarten, Suzanne O’Connell will teach second-graders, Leith Harman will be a part-time Title I instructor and Pam Everett will be a Title I instructor.

In Student Support Services, Joan Broeckling will be the full-time psychologist, Deanna McCabe has been hired as a speech language pathologist and Roxanne McNaughton has been hired as a nurse.

In the district’s maintenance department, Samuel Lewis has been hired as an information technology technician, Cecilia St. Claire has been transferred to Windsor and Sunset elementary schools as a custodian, Bob Bobincheck will be night custodian at Cheney Middle School, Sharon Sage will be the middle school’s day custodian, Anita Koontz will be night custodian at Cheney High School and Tinna Hickman will be night custodian at Sunset Elementary School.

In district administration, Brian Aiken has been hired as director of finance in the business department.
