Chaves to take reins at Eastern

The Spokesman-Review

Eastern Washington University president Dr. Rodolfo Arevalo announced Thursday afternoon that he has selected Bill Chaves to be the school’s next athletics director.

Chaves, who spent the three years as an associate athletics director for external affairs at Baylor University, will be introduced, along with his wife and their three children, at a news conference scheduled for 11 this morning in the Red Reese Room in the EWU Special Event’s Pavilion.

Chaves, 41, has 20 years of experience as an administrator in college athletics.

Chaves will take over the Eagles athletics program from Mike Westfall, who has served as the school’s interim athletics director since March 20.
