Brush keeps car from going into Spokane River
Heavy brush appears to have stopped a car Friday morning from entering the Spokane River near Minnehaha Park, but how it got there remains a mystery.
A bicyclist on the Centennial Trail spotted the car about 6:30 a.m. Friday and alerted police.
No driver was found, but the car was still running when police arrived.
There was no key in the ignition.
Spokane police officers and Spokane County sheriff’s deputies searched for the driver and crawled through the deep brush.
Officers feared the driver might be trapped underneath the car, but when a tow truck pulled it up the slope, no one was found.
