In brief: Community yard sale planned

On Sacred Grounds coffee shop, 12212 E Palouse Highway, will be the staging area of a community yard sale on Friday and next Saturday. The yard sale is being put on by the community in honor of the new Valleyford signs on the Palouse Highway.

The sale will begin at 9 a.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. on Saturday, and end at 5 p.m. both days. For more information call Elaine Rising at 747-6294.

Fair handbooks available

Exhibitor handbooks for Southeast Spokane County Fair in Rockford are available at Farmers and Merchants Bank locations throughout the region. The fair takes place the weekend of Sept. 21.

Fair organizers also are asking for photos and essays about harvest days gone by in southeast Spokane County. The theme of this year’s fair is Harvest Memories. Anyone interesting in submitting photos or an essay can contact fair organizer Gail Kopp, 291-5211.

Final free movie of summer

Rockford will show its last free summer movie in the park Thursday. The movie, yet to be determined, will be shown at sundown. Free popcorn and soft drinks will be provided.
