Junior A important too
First off, my congratulations to the University baseball team for winning the American Legion Junior State A Championship. It’s an achievement they earned by playing great baseball against quality teams from across the state. However, my purpose for writing is to express my disappointment in The Spokesman-Review for its lack of coverage of the Junior A State Tournament.
Both Spokane teams, University and Central Valley, represented our region extremely well with CV taking third place with two exciting come-from-behind wins. Between the two teams, victories were recorded against every team in the tournament with the exception of one eliminated early, and both beat state runner-up North Thurston.
I realize Spokane is much larger than Mt. Vernon and the Review has broader obligations to its readers, but it is unfortunate it chose to give so little attention to what our teams accomplished. The Skagit Valley Herald provided incredible coverage of their local teams in victory and in defeat. It’s too bad CV parents had to cut clippings from the Herald to preserve their memories of a fantastic week of baseball.
