Get out, get going

It's hot outside

» Visit the 1950's again during the Hot August Night fundraiser hosted by the Spokane Valley Museum tonight. There will be cars on display, food, music, a beer garden and the chance to win prizes. The adults-only gathering will be from 6-11 p.m. at 12114 E. Sprague Ave.

» The cost is $15. As a bonus, a showing of the movie "American Graffiti" will begin at dusk. Bring a lawn chair if you'd like a place to sit and rest.

Nostalgia II

» A second dose of nostalgia will also be taking place tonight, with a performance by Tuxedo Junction from 6-8 p.m. at the Park Place Retirement Community, 511 S. Park Road. The Big Band's repertoire includes classics like "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy," "Jump Jive 'n' Wail," "Getting to Know You" and "Sentimental Journey."

» The concert will be preceded by a tour of the retirement facility from 4:30-6 p.m. Admission is $3. Proceeds will benefit Care Cars, a program that provides transportation to medical appointments for seniors. So head down for your own sentimental journey that benefits a worthy cause.
