For safety, stop children screaming

The Spokesman-Review

As a person living near an elementary school, I have a suggestion to improve child safety.

Teachers and parents should teach their children not to scream while playing. They should be taught screaming is for a danger signal. Like in the story of the “The Boy Who Cried Wolf,” people ignore the sound if exposed to it too often. What if the public started responding to screams for help? Wouldn’t that be better?
