Valleyfest seeks band musicians
Valleyfest is forming an all-city band for its 2007 parade and desperately needs musicians.
Director Peggy Doering said the parade has really gained momentum in recent years by becoming an evening event and attracting community floats from around the region, but could still use a little music.
Former members of marching bands at University and Central Valley, East Valley and West Valley high schools, no matter how rusty, would be perfect performers, Doering said. She estimates the group’s repertoire wouldn’t have to be long by the time the parade rolled around Sept. 21. The parade is roughly a mile.
“I think we could have an all-Valley alumni band,” Doering said. “All they need to learn is one song or two.”
The parade band is being built from scratch. A band director also is needed. For more information, contact Valleyfest at 922-3299
