The Ferris Five. Shawn Stockton, Jeff Minnerly, Jared Karstetter, Erick Cheadle and Beau Brett try to do in football what they did last winter in basketball: win a state championship.

Hold that Tiger. With starters returned at nearly all 22 positions, Lewis and Clark has a chance to be really good.

The program’s the thing. Gonzaga Prep and East Valley hope that adage, “they don’t build, they reload” holds true. Last year’s first- and third-place teams graduated the most starters.

Nearly every other team has a veteran lineup. Central Valley, Mead and University seek to break last year’s 4-4 league tie and reach the playoffs. Shadle Park and North Central hope to surprise.
