In brief: Garbage service gets new trucks
Those new white trucks rolling through Post Falls don’t belong to the ice cream man. They’re automated garbage trucks owned by the CDA Garbage Service and Post Falls Sanitation.
“We’ve made a major investment in equipment that will be used to service residents and businesses in the cities of Post Falls, Hayden, Rathdrum and Kootenai County,” said Phil Damiano, general manager of the waste disposal company.
Five new automated trucks will be used in residential areas and three new commercial trucks will handle businesses and industry, according to the company’s press release.
And they’re environmentally friendly, according to Damiano.
“With the advanced technology, improved fuel mileage, payload capabilities, along with the advanced emissions, these new trucks will not only better service our customers, but also the environment,” Damiano wrote.
The trucks are compatible with wheeled trash carts residents received three years ago.
CDA Garbage Service and Post Falls Sanitation is the exclusive contracted solid waste hauler for Post Falls and the Kootenai County rural collection sites.
Fire station getting update

The building will be closed until at least April for remodeling, fire officials announced last week.
But don’t fret about service. The station’s firefighting equipment and firefighters will be spread between Stations No. 2 and No. 3 for the duration of the project.
As a result, both the working stations will be manned round-the-clock, seven days a week.
