Meet your Neighbor: Jolene Pooley

The Spokesman-Review

Name: Jolene Pooley

Age: 52

Hometown: I grew up in Carthage, S.D., but we raised our family for 27 years in Littleton, Colo. We moved to Twin Lakes two years ago.

Occupation: I was an at-home mom and a volunteer for the Lutheran Church’s emergency assistance program in Denver and also volunteer director of Lutheran Family Services there. I’m waiting for God to direct my next efforts.

Family: My husband, Randy, and I have three grown daughters, all married. One daughter, Terri Young, lives with her husband and our 6- and 2-year-old grandchildren in Spokane Valley.

Hobbies: Sharing time with the grandkids and playing in a women’s nine-hole golf league at Twin Lakes Village.

What do you like about North Idaho? We enjoy the four seasons, the ability to travel short distances for more great scenery, the slower pace. We love Spokane as well as Coeur d’Alene and the arts in both cities. But we miss having a zoo.

What do you like or dislike about the current season? It doesn’t get too hot here in the summer; it cools off nicely at night, and this time of year, there’s plenty of sunshine.

Favorite music: Church music, traditional and contemporary.

Favorite book: Beverly Lewis’ series of Christian books.

Favorite movie: I don’t really have a favorite. We seldom go to the movies, but when I do, I want a good laugh and a good story.

Favorite spot in North Idaho? Why? Our home on the shore of upper Twin Lake. We have it all there, including great scenery and constant changes from sun to clouds to fog as well as parades of ducks swimming by.
