Symphony plans free concert
The annual Lud Kramer Memorial Spokane Symphony Concert will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday at Pavillion Park. Bring a blanket or lawn chair, and enjoy the free concert.
Liberty Lake City Council members and city employees will host a sixth anniversary incorporation celebration prior to the concert at 5 p.m. Cake will served.
Golf tournament on Sept. 7
The 11th annual Good Sam Scramble Golf Tournament is scheduled Sept. 7 at Liberty Lake Golf Course.
Proceeds for the fundraiser will go toward new room furniture for residents of the skilled nursing and special care units at Spokane Valley Good Samaritan Village, 17121 E. Eighth Ave.
Cost is $70 per player or $280 for a foursome. The fee includes green fees, cart rental, goody bag and postgame meal. For information call Kathleen Harper at 924-6161.

Show off your dog Saturday
The Spokane Kennel Club is sponsoring a Responsible Dog Owner Day event Saturday at Clark Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Activities include training and breeding clinics, talent and costume contests, dog sports, and kids’ safety. The Lilac City Dog Trainers and the Spokane Dog Trainers will give demonstrations. Clark Park is at Division and Garland.

Elvis singer offered contract
Ben “Preslee” Klein of Spokane Valley has been offered a contract with Elvis Presley Enterprises to perform on its cruise Aug. 23 through Sept 3.
Klein and 24 other impersonators competed Aug. 12 in the Ultimate Elvis Competition sponsored by Elvis Presley Enterprises at Memphis, Tenn., during Elvis week. Klein finished in the top five.

Annual cleanup coming up
Weed and Seed volunteers are gearing up for their annual neighborhood cleanup in Edgecliff.
Refuse bins will be in front of Pratt Elementary for neighbors in the Weed and Seed grant area to drop off their trash for free. That area is bordered by Broadway Avenue, Havana Street, 12th Avenue and Dishman-Mica Road.
The cleanup takes place from from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 8 and noon to 5 p.m., Sept 9. Volunteers will meet at Edgecliff Park.
The waste disposal company is not able to take mattresses, appliances, tires and hazardous waste.
