Breakfast with Santa Claus

» If your kids would like to have some fun and visit with Mr. Claus himself this weekend, there are two chances this weekend. The Spokane Valley Rotary Club is hosting a breakfast with Santa today from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Central Valley High School, 821 S. Sullivan Road. The event will include games, clowns and face painting. The cost is $4. Santa should arrive via fire truck around 9 a.m. (Unless, of course, there's an emergency. Santa likes to help out when that happens.)

» On Sunday the Elks Lodge will host a breakfast with Santa from 9 to 11 a.m. at the lodge, at 2605 N. Robie Road. The cost is $5. Santa is expected to arrive to visit with the kids and kids at heart at 10:30 a.m.

Get your elbows off the table

» Let's face it, sometimes little Johnnie and little Susie leave a little something to be desired in the table manners department. Max at Mirabeau will host a three-course meal for kids ages 7-12 on Sunday and give them an opportunity to learn what fork to use, how to present themselves and how to give a toast. "The Art of Holiday Etiquette and Dining for Children" will be from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the hotel, at Sullivan Road and I-90. The cost is $59. Call 230-6394 for more information.

» After some training little Johnnie and little Susie will be able to behave properly at the family holiday dinner. And every kid should know how to rattle off a toast like this one: To Santa Claus – may he realize how wonderful I am and bring me everything I want for Christmas.
