Religion notebook: Two churches plan family Advent events
Sunday marks the beginning of Advent, the four weeks preceding Christmas. Two Valley churches are planning special family events to mark the beginning of the holiday season.
“ Millwood Community Presbyterian Church will host an Advent Party beginning at 4 p.m. Sunday. Families can make Christmas crafts and create their own Advent calendar to count down the days remaining until Christmas. There will also be a chance to sing Christmas carols, and there will be a presentation of the Christmas story for younger children. The activities are free, but those planning to attend are asked to bring a plate of snacks to share. The church is at 3223 N. Marguerite Road.
“ The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection will host an Advent Afternoon from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday. There will be Christmas crafts and families will be able to help decorate the church. Refreshments will be served. The church is at 15319 E. Eighth Ave.
Plum Pudding Festival
The Veradale United Church of Christ will host its 32nd annual Plum Pudding Festival Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. The annual holiday celebration includes Christmas carols, poems, stories and, of course, plum puddings. All are welcome to attend. The church is at 611 N. Progress Road.
