NEW FACESDr. Kawal Dinsa Chester has been hired by the Rockwood Cancer Treatment Center as a medical oncology specialist. She holds a medical degree from the University of Alberta and completed her residency at Summa Health Systems in Akron, Ohio. She previously worked for Cancer Care Northwest.

David Milan has been hired as a senior civil engineer by Adams & Clark. He holds a master’s degree in sanitary engineering from Michigan State University. He is licensed in Idaho, Washington and Pennsylvania.

Nathan Smith has been hired as an associate at Witherspoon, Kelley, Davenport & Toole. He is a graduate of the Gonzaga University School of Law and his practice includes environmental and real estate law.

Dr. Magdaline Ndirangu has been hired by Providence Family Medicine in the practice of family medicine. She is a graduate of the University of Nairobi and completed her internship and residency at the Fairview Hospital Cleveland Clinic.

T.W. Clark Construction has hired Jon Huettl as a project manager. He holds a degree in construction management from Washington State University. He previously was project manager at Panco Construction.

Margretta Scammell-Renner has been hired as community relationship manager in the American Cancer Society’s Spokane office. She holds degrees in business management and hospitality business management.

Dr. Alyssa Raines has been hired by Spokane Emergency Medicine in the practice of emergency medicine. She graduated from South Illinois University and completed her internship and residency at Indiana University.

Melanie Sexton Mick has been hired as senior assurance principal by Williams & Webster. She previously worked for Itron Inc. and is a graduate of Washington State University and Eastern Washington University.

Bryan Foss has been hired as an electrical/controls engineer at H2E Incorporated. He previously worked for Wagstaff Inc.

Shari Lyon has been hired by Radia as Empire Health Services imaging operations manager. She holds a master’s in business administration from Pepperdine University.

PROMOTIONS Emily Shaw has been promoted to agent at the State Farm Liberty Lake office. She has been with the company since 1999 and is a graduate of Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Nicole Shea has been promoted to vice president at Bank of America Mortgage. She was previously a mortgage loan office and assistant vice president. She holds a master’s in business administration from Eastern Washington University.

Three firefighters were recently promoted to engineer by Kootenai County Fire and Rescue. They are: Ryan Asher, Heath Sheppard and Justin Capaul.

KUDOS Dzenana Prozorac of the Holiday Inn Express Downtown recently received the 2007 Express Start Excellence Breakfast Bar Award.

Warrior Electric of Spokane received the Rising Star Award by the Business and Economic Development Center at the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business. The award is based on the business’ status as the fastest growing minority-owned business in Washington.

Bruce Blackmer was recently awarded the American Institute of Architects Northwest and Pacific Region 2007 Medal of Honor in recognition of his contributions to the architectural profession.

Barbara Renner, retired manager of the North Idaho Fair and Rodeo, has been inducted in the International Association of Fairs and Expositions Hall of Fame. She managed the fair for 15 years.

Inland Northwest Partners has announced the communities and individuals recently honored with Hometown Awards. The recipients are: Community Awards – Cheney for its planned Cheney Research and Industrial Park and Moscow for its Moscow Fiber Project; Partnership Awards – Coeur d’Alene and the Lake City Development Corporation for economic revitalization and the Port of Whitman County for projects including the Pullman Industrial Park; Hometown Hero Awards – Darrell Kerby, mayor of Bonners Ferry, for his work redeveloping downtown and Tammy Lewis, Palouse EDC managing director for Whitman County, for her work promoting economic vitality; Lifetime Achievement Award – Paul Anderson, Coeur d’Alene regional business manager for Avista.
