Crossloop offers an easy fix

The Spokesman-Review

Tired of having to call your nerdy cousin when you have a PC problem? Tired of being the guy who goes over to fix all your friends’ computers?

Beta startup Crossloop gives help to both sides of that equation. It offers free software that users can download, and then use to provide remote desktop help in a live session, with both persons sitting anywhere on the globe.

You can even sign up there as a power user and provide for-pay technical service to people across the Web who find your profile there at the site. The software lets the customer rate your work and your account profile shows overall ranking, like your eBay seller rating.

Of course, you can just create a free account and help people for nothing, if that’s your choice.

Green Home Guide

Saving energy is not just a socially positive act, it’s also economically smart.

Homeowners, renters or landlords can use www.greenhome guide.org to examine whether their building is as energy-efficient as possible.

Green homes use, on average, 40 percent less energy and 50 percent less water than conventional homes.

Yourememberthat.com

Yourememberthat.com is a curiosity shop of a site. It’s just video and pictures, organized according to decade and genre. Most of the media comes from people uploading their favorite video clips, cartoons or pictures.

It’s a stroll down memory lane, or a visit to weird moments in American history. One favorite: the TV award show clip featuring celebrities Mickey Rooney and Jayne Mansfield, dating from the late 1950s.

The content is generally G-rated in all cases. That’s a big plus these days.
