Nowitzki, Mavs mangle Knicks

Dirk Nowitzki scored a season-high 36 points, leading the Dallas Mavericks to a 99-89 victory over the New York Knicks on Monday night in New York.

Josh Howard added 22 to help the Mavericks beat the Knicks for the 11th time in 12 meetings. Reserve Jerry Stackhouse added 13 points for Dallas, which shot 54 percent from the field.

Zach Randolph scored 24 points, all in the second half, and grabbed 11 rebounds. Jamal Crawford had 19 points and Fred Jones 16, helping New York cut a 23-point deficit to single digits in the fourth quarter.

76ers 100, Rockets 88: At Philadelphia, Andre Iguodala scored 16 points, Andre Miller had 17 points and 12 assists and the Sixers led by as many as 31 points in a victory over Houston.

Tracy McGrady scored 12 points before leaving the game in the second half with a sprained right ankle.

Hawks 98, Magic 87: At Orlando, Fla., Josh Smith had 25 points and a season-high 16 rebounds and Joe Johnson scored 24 points as Atlanta beat the Magic.

The Hawks led all but the opening 90 seconds and held Orlando’s prolific 3-point shooters in check almost all game. Orlando shot a season-low 39.7 percent.

Heat 117, Suns 113: At Phoenix, Dwyane Wade scored 10 of his 31 points in the final four minutes and Miami ended its longest road trip of the season with a victory over the Suns.

The Heat put six players in double figures and shot 59 percent to win consecutive games for the first time this season.

Kings 96, Bucks 93: At Sacramento, John Salmons scored 22 points and the Kings rallied for a victory over Milwaukee.

Trailing in a back-and-forth final quarter that saw 10 lead changes, Beno Udrih made an 18-foot baseline jumper to put the Kings ahead for good.

Off the court

Madison Square Garden and New York Knicks coach Isiah Thomas have settled the sexual harassment case brought by Anucha Browne Sanders, a former team executive, who was awarded $11.6 million in punitive damages. Terms of the settlement were not immediately disclosed. … Two civil lawsuits against Ron Artest stemming from the November 2004 brawl at the Palace of Auburn Hills have been dismissed.
