In brief: Night of 1,000 Stars dedicated to officers
The Traffic Safety Emphasis Patrol and Mothers Against Drunk Driving will hold a candlelight vigil Friday at 7 p.m. at the Law Enforcement Memorial area of the Public Safety Building, 1100 W. Mallon Ave.
The vigil will be part of the Night of 1,000 Stars, which will put badges on the estimated 1,000 officers who will be on the road Friday watching for drunk drivers.
During last year’s Night of 1,000 Stars, officers removed 201 drinking drivers from roads in Washington. The candlelight vigil will remember those lives lost to impaired driving.
