In brief: Seats available on commissions
Post Falls residents are needed to fill three vacancies on the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission and two vacancies on the Park and Recreation Commission.
Commission terms are three years for Park and Recreation and four years for Planning and Zoning, or the remainder of the term of the seat being filled. The Park and Recreation Commission meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. The Planning and Zoning Commission meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m.
Pick up an application form at City Hall or download it from the city Web page, www.postfalls idaho.org/commissions. htm.
Citizens who have filled out applications in the past should reapply if it has been over a year since submitting their application.

Holiday concert at library
A free fireside holiday concert by the musician J.J. Dion, who will also lead the singing of carols, is 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Post Falls Library.
Aside from being an accomplished vocal performer and instrumentalist, Dion serves as executive director of the Northwest Sacred Music Chorale. For this performance, he will be accompanied by his mother, pianist Mary Lou Dion.
The evening program will take place after normal operating hours at the library. The audience will gather in a cozy and intimate setting by the library fireplace. The performance will consist of both original compositions by Dion and traditional holiday favorites.
Free refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Post Falls Library.
Safety seminar at Center Target
Peggy Santos, owner of Center Target Sports, is offering a “Refuse To Be A Victim” class on Dec. 28 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Center Target Sports. Cost is $15 and all proceeds benefit OASIS, the Post Falls Women’s Shelter.
The four-hour seminar is designed to offer men and women a variety of options to prepare their own crime prevention and personal safety strategy. It covers home, campus, automobile, physical, Internet, fraud, travel, telephone and personal security in general. No firearms are involved.
