Women’s basketball: Parker sparks No. 1 Lady Vols

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Candace Parker scored a season-high 34 points and Alexis Hornbuckle added 17 to help top-ranked Tennessee beat Middle Tennessee 84-61 on Thursday night.

Alex Fuller added 16 points and seven rebounds for the Lady Volunteers (8-0), who played their first game in more than a week after taking a break for exams. Amber Holt led the Blue Raiders (3-5) with 28 points and five assists.

Tennessee’s Angie Bjorklund (University High) had four points and four fouls in 18 minutes.
