Appleton leads Cougars to overtime victory
Katie Appleton scored a career-high 29 points Sunday to lead Washington State to a 78-72 overtime victory over San Jose State at Pullman.
Appleton’s 3-point field goal with 10.3 seconds left in regulation sent the game into overtime. The Cougars (3-6) scored the only five points in the final three minutes of regulation and the only six points in the final three minutes of overtime.
Natalie White led San Jose State (1-9) with career highs of 25 points and six 3-point field goals.
(19) Ohio State 71, Washington 54: Marscilla Packer scored 14 of her 18 points in a nearly flawless first half by the Buckeyes, and Ohio State (7-2) routed the Huskies (4-7) at Seattle.
Freshman Katelan Redmon (Lewis and Clark High) led Washington with 11 points.
Umpqua 85, CC Spokane 60: The Riverhawks got double-figure scoring from three players, led by Kristi Fallin’s 21, and hit 56 percent of their shots in overwhelming the Sasquatch (8-4) in an NWAACC crossover tournament in Bellingham.
