NHL : Zetterberg, Cleary pace Red Wings
Henrik Zetterberg and Dan Cleary each had a goal and an assist to lift the Detroit Red Wings to a 6-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday night at Detroit.
Detroit, which has won 10 of its last 11 games, has the NHL’s best record at 25-6-3. Los Angeles (12-21-2), which lost its fifth straight, has the worst.
Jiri Hudler, Tomas Holmstrom, Johan Franzen and Valtteri Filppula got the Red Wings’ other goals. Niklas Kronwall had four assists for his career-high point total and Dominik Hasek made 18 saves.
Dustin Brown and Patrick O’Sullivan scored for the Kings, and former Spokane Chiefs netminder Jason LaBarbara stopped 29 shots.
Ducks 2, Avalanche 1 (OT): At Anaheim, Calif., Chris Pronger scored the tying goal early in the third period and Mathieu Schneider got the game-winner with 1:29 left in overtime, leading the Ducks to a victory over Colorado.
Jonas Hiller faced just 12 shots in his fifth start of the season for Anaheim while Jean-Sebastien Giguere got the night off after posting his first shutout of the season. The Ducks had 38 shots against Peter Budaj, after being held to just 16 in Tuesday’s 2-0 win at San Jose.
Sabres 2, Islanders 1: At Uniondale, N.Y., Maxim Afinogenov scored with 2:17 left in the third period, just as Buffalo’s sixth power play ended, to lift the Sabres to a victory over New York.
Blackhawks 5, Predators 2: At Chicago, Robert Lang and Patrick Sharp each scored two goals, and the Blackhawks defeated Nashville, handing the Predators their fifth straight loss.

Carolina forward Craig Adams was suspended two games without pay for hitting Toronto’s Alex Steen with his stick Tuesday night. … Penguins forward Ryan Malone left the team in Boston and returned to Pittsburgh to be treated by team doctors for an infected cut on his leg.
