GU women ease past Eastern Washington

Jami Bjorklund tied a career-high with 25 points on 11-of-16 shooting and Michele Elliott added 24 points and nine rebounds as Gonzaga coasted to a 97-61 non-conference victory over Eastern Washington Saturday at the McCarthey Athletic Center.

Vivian Frieson and Janelle Bekkering added 11 points apiece for the Bulldogs, who outscored the Eagles 47-28 in the first half.

Sydney Benson had 14 points and 11 rebounds and Amy Bratvold added 10 points to lead EWU.

GU improved to 8-5 on the season while the Eagles fell to 3-10.

“Rebecca Gimeno (St. George’s) scored a game-high 21 points to guide Montana Tech to a 79-62 non-conference victory over Whitworth in Butte, Mont.

Kelsey Devries had 13 points, Jenessa Todd tossed in 12 and Jessie DePell (Freeman HS) added 11 for the Orediggers, who outscored the Pirates 45-34 in the second half.

Natalie Orrell and Alida Bower had 15 points apiece to guide Whitworth.

The Pirates fell to 4-4 on the season.

“Kelsey Stillar led four players in double figures with 23 points and Community Colleges of Spokane routed Grays Harbor 92-45 in a non-conference game at Spokane Falls Community College.

Liz Beardslee had 17 points, Richelle Daily chipped in 12 and Katrina Clough added 11 for the Sasquatch (9-4), who held a 50-25 advantage at the half.

CCS outrebounded Grays Harbor 42-35 and committed eight less turnovers.

Kellie Read and Crystal Smith had 11 points apiece to guide the Chokers (3-9).

“Lauren Daling scored 23 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as Wenatchee Valley edged North Idaho 77-75 in a non-conference game in Coeur d’Alene.

Brittany Ingham added 16 points for the Knights, who converted 36 of their 48 free-throw attempts.

Danika Lawson scored 20 points and Natalie Nichols added 13 for the Cardinals.

NIC fell to 8-3 on the season while Wenatchee Valley improved to 9-6.
