Priest will speak on Islam

Country Homes Christian Church, 8415 N. Wall St., is hosting the Rev. Patrick Baraza today and next Thursday at 7 p.m.

Baraza, a Roman Catholic priest, has studied Islam in Kenya, Bahrain, Kuwait and Yemen. He currently is a visiting professor of religious studies at Gonzaga University.

He will speak about understanding Islam.

Admission is free, and the lecture is open to the public.

Thrift shop fundraiser

The Windfall, 1024 S. Perry St., is hosting a 50 percent-off sale today through Sunday.

Items for sale include glassware, books, bedding, dishes, shoes and clothing. Jewelry is excluded from the sale.

The proceeds of the sale will benefit the programs and projects of the Episcopal Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist.

Activities at Unity Church of Truth

The Unity Church of Truth, 2900 S. Bernard St., is presenting the film “The Secret” Friday at 7 p.m.

The film will discuss what is regarded as the secret to everything, such as money, relationships, joy, health and more. It also will discuss the lives of people who have benefited from learning the secrets.

Admission is by donation.

The church is also offering a study group, “A Course in Miracles,” every Tuesday at 7 p.m., and Dances of Universal Peace on the first and third Thursdays of every month.

The cost of these two classes is a donation.
