Week in review
Valley Fire – Commissioners passed a resolution to revise the deployment standard to allow firefighters time to put on their gear before fire calls. They discussed setting a new policy to close the administration office on Presidents Day and the day after Thanksgiving. That issue now will go before the union as part of contract negotiations. Fairfield City Council – Council members reviewed the statement of qualifications for the town’s engineering service. The North Palouse Journal was selected as the town’s official newspaper. They also voted to purchase a small piece of tax title property near the railroad right of way. There also were discussions on creating an emergency evacuation plan for the town. Rockford City Council – Council members discussed the recently submitted preliminary plat for the proposed Rockford Estate development. They also are working on a resolution to declare the old power plant surplus property and auction it off. (Source: town clerk)
Liberty Lake SCOPE – The new officers were installed and several volunteers were recognized for their length of service. The Harry Hansen Volunteer of the Year Award was presented to Wendy Van Orman. The organization recently recruited five new volunteers. Several volunteers are scheduled to participate in graffiti training later this month. (Source: President Rob Hill)
