Remember home inspection

The Spokane Association of REALTORS®

Before buying that home, make sure you have a professional inspect it. These folks have studied hard to find faults. They look at the outside, inside, foundation, construction, site, etc. Think of it as a check-up for a home. A good report will please you.

Some places that may be a problem are easy to spot, like dented siding. Others are more difficult; this is where the expertise of a pro fits into the picture. Look for cracks in the foundation or water seepage in visible pipes.

Look a the exterior brick to make sure they and their mortar are sound. In this area where the temperature can easily top 90 degrees in the summer and below zero in the winter, check out the condition of insulation.

That roof should be checked because it’s outside in all weather and has to repel moisture to keep the inside of the home from damage. Be sure to check the flashing. Look for loose pieces of drywall that may be pealing away.

These are but some of the items that a professional will look for when inspecting your home. Get a pro; it pays.
