James Jones led four players in double figures with 21 points and Whitworth opened the second half with a 25-3 run that led the Pirates past Whitman 84-72 Tuesday night in Walla Walla in a Northwest Conference men’s basketball game.

The win gave Whitworth (21-3, 12-3) a half-game lead over Lewis & Clark in the standings.

The Pirates can wrap up at least a share of the regular-season title with a win in Friday’s game against Willamette in the Whitworth Fieldhouse.
