Man sought in Wheatland Bank robbery

From Staff Reports The Spokesman-Review

Police are looking for an armed robber who made off with a bag of cash from Wheatland Bank at the Spokane Valley Mall on Friday afternoon.

At about 12:10 p.m., a man waving a pistol demanded a teller place money in a sack that he brought with him and ordered employees to lie down on the floor or keep their hands in the air, according to a release from sheriff’s Sgt. Dave Reagan.

Witnesses described the robber as white, 6 feet tall, thin build, in his mid- to late 20s. He wore a dark-blue hooded sweatshirt, jeans and white track shoes. He also had on a blue stocking cap, sunglasses and a blue bandanna with a white pattern to cover his face

No shots were fired, and no injuries were reported, Reagan said.

The robber was last seen eastbound on Indiana Road in a late-model blue or black small car.

Police ask anyone with information to call (509) 242-TIPS.
