Fire destroys house near Cheney

From Staff Reports The Spokesman-Review

Firefighters spent more than three hours Saturday on a blaze that destroyed a two-story house in the 34000 block of South Wood Road in a rural area outside Cheney, according to officials.

There were no injuries, and no one was at home at the time of the fire, said Fire District No. 3 Battalion Chief Don Mangis. The residence was near Amber Lake, about 10 miles southwest of Cheney. Thirteen units from the department responded to the fire about 6:30 p.m. after someone called 911, Mangis said. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
