Gregg powers Sasquatch

Jordan Gregg paced Community Colleges of Spokane with a game-high 27 points in a 97-86 win over Big Bend Community College in Wednesday’s Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges men’s basketball game at Moses Lake.

Gregg, who shot 10 of 16 from the floor and 6 of 9 from the line, also grabbed seven rebounds.

Zach Gianukakis (17), Jon Clift (15), Eric Beal (10) and Kyle Turpin (10) all scored in double figures for the Sasquatch (13-16, 6-8), who shot 55.7 percent (34-61) from the field.

Derek Miller shot 5 of 6 from the 3-point line and 7 of 7 from the free-throw line for the Vikings (19-8, 9-5), who held a 41-40 halftime lead.

•Whitworth will host Lewis & Clark in Saturday’s Northwest Conference championship game at 4 p.m., with the winner advancing to the NCAA D-III tournament.

Track and field

Idaho sophomore Matt Wauters was named Western Athletic Conference indoor track male athlete of the week after winning the weight throw and finishing second in the shot put at last weekend’s Vandal Indoor at Moscow, Idaho.

Wauters won the weight throw at the meet with a NCAA provisional-qualifying mark of 68 feet, 5 1/4 inches, and placed runner-up in the shot put with a personal-best toss of 54-10.

Swimming

Washington is in sixth place after the first night of competition at the Pac-10 Men’s Swimming Championship in Federal Way, Wash.

The Huskies placed sixth in both the 200-yard medley and 800 freestyle relays.

Women’s golf

Amy Eneroth (Mead High) placed second at 8-over-par 224 Tuesday to lead Washington State to the team championship at the 29th annual Pat Bradley Championship at Miccosukee Golf & Country Club in Kendall, Fla.

The Cougars shot the first sub-300 round of the competition and went on to produce a five-shot win over host Florida International.

Prep boys

Game times for a pair of District 6/7 1A boys regional tournament games have been switched.

Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls) and Brewster will play in a winner-to-state game at 4 p.m. Friday. Colfax will take on Cashmere in a loser-out game at 8:30.

Junior hockey

Spokane fell to Nelson 3-1 in Kootenay International Junior Hockey League action at Nelson, British Columbia.

Brandon Lassiter scored the lone goal for the Braves (29-29-4, 62 points), and goaltender Jason Greenwell made 14 saves in net.
