Teen to be prosecuted as adult in stabbing case
One of three teenage suspects in a violent mugging Sunday night near Wellesley and Madison has been transferred to the Spokane County Jail to be prosecuted as an adult.
Nicholas F. Clark, 17, was booked into the adult jail Tuesday on suspicion of first-degree assault and first-degree robbery in an incident in which two victims were repeatedly stabbed and slashed with a knife.
Court documents say Sean Allbery and Cody Snyder were walking home about 11 p.m. Sunday with an 18-pack of beer they had purchased at a Zip Trip store at 1023 W. Wellesley Ave. when they were attacked and robbed by three teenagers and a 21-year-old man.
The robbers knocked down Allbery and Snyder. They took the beer and Allbery’s wallet containing $210 in cash. In addition to numerous small wounds, Allbery suffered a 6- to 8-inch slash on his left side, and Snyder had what police described as two large cuts on his left arm.
Using information they found in a backpack that the robbers apparently abandoned, police quickly located and arrested Ashley M. Shaw, 14; Michael Bradley Jackson, 15; and Clark. All three were booked into the Spokane County Juvenile Detention Center.
Court documents say all three admitted participating in the crime. Their statements led police to Jackson’s 21-year-old brother, Chad Eric Bolstad, who was arrested Monday on suspicion of first-degree assault and first-degree robbery.
Bolstad told detectives it was he who stabbed the victims, according to a police affidavit. His criminal record includes guilty pleas in 2004 to two counts of third-degree child rape.
Bolstad and Clark allegedly claimed during Sunday’s robbery that they were members of the West Side Gang.
