Unbox.it provides an opening for nerds
http://unbox.it
So you didn’t get that nifty tech toy from Santa this past holiday. OK, move on over to Unbox.it, one of a slew of upload sites that feature videos of nerdy guys and gals (mostly guys) unwrapping some new technology purchase.
If you search YouTube for unboxing videos, you’ll find a large collection; for some reason there’s a massive rush out there by nerds to showcase their discoveries and make comments while unwrapping.
The Unbox.it site, interestingly, is based in Gig Harbor, Wash. A cousin site is Unboxing.com, devoted to more or less the same idea. Not that we should judge, but when you see a video (at Unboxing) titled “Unboxing the Verizon V640 EVDO ExpressCard,” doesn’t it make you feel just a little superior?
MomsMinivan.com
Save your sanity on a car trip by printing out a set of kids’ travel games at MomsMinivan.com.
The games include bingo, tic-tac-toe, car-scavenger hunt and others. Also there, some printable lyrics to popular kids’ songs (no Diddy at this point) and string-figure instructions.
The site makes money sending visitors to other company sites, including the marginally useful Travelingwithkids.com site, where the entire inventory caters to traveling parents of younger children.

Wolfgang’s Vault
Since this site has been sued by a host of rock celebrities over copyright infringement, it’s probably worth your while to pay a visit and at least sample some of the goodies.
Bill Sagan started Wolfgangsvault.com after buying the archives of legendary concert promoter Bill Graham Presents in 2002, from Clear Channel Communications Inc.
In addition to music recorded in live concert, the site offers tons of rock memorabilia, handbills, concert photos and T-shirts.
Listening to streaming concerts requires a free registration. This past week, the featured concert (four stars!) was the New Year’s Eve show, 1982, by Big Country in Glasgow, Scotland.
