Undeck the halls

» Now is your last chance to get rid of that tinder-dry Christmas tree before it combusts someplace inconvenient, like your living room. Two high schools are collecting the trees as fundraisers. East Valley High School will be accepting trees today and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. at the school, 15711 E. Wellesley. The requested donation is $7 and pick up is available in a limited area for $10. Call 979-4927 for details. The money will be used for the senior all-nighter.

» Students at University High School will be collecting trees from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and Sunday at three locations: University Elementary, 1613 S. University; Broadway Elementary, 11016 E. Broadway; and the high school, 12420 E. 32nd. The requested donation is $5 and pickup is $10. Call 228-5307 for details. The fundraiser was organized by the band and color guard students.

Calling all hams

» Budding thespians ages 5 and up are encouraged to audition for a production of "Tikki Tikki Tembo" by Theater Arts for Children. Available roles include street urchins, a wandering musician with no talent and Tooku Rue, a "funny little magical water spirit."
