“Great Blessing of Waters” Ancient Ceremony – today, 11 a.m. at the Coeur d’Alene City Beach; the annual ceremony commemorates the baptism of Christ by John the Baptist in the Jordan River and will be performed by Father Gregory Horton of St. John’s Orthodox Church in Post Falls. During the ceremony Horton will toss the Holy Cross into the lake, and anyone willing may retrieve it to receive the blessing of being the first to reach the cross.
