Ducks knock off top-ranked Bruins
Aaron Brooks scored 25 points, including the game- winner with 13 seconds left, and No. 16 Oregon beat No. 1 UCLA , 68-66 on Saturday.
Darren Collison hit a 3-pointer to bring the Bruins into a 66-66 tie. Brooks, who had 31 points on Thursday night when the Ducks lost for the first time this season to USC, hit the baseline jumper to give Oregon the lead.
UCLA worked the ball around over the final seconds and instead of going toward the basket for a chance at tying it, Josh Shipp’s 3-point attempt at the buzzer was short. The last time the Bruins visited McArthur Court as the nation’s top-ranked team was Feb. 16, 1974. The Ducks stunned UCLA 56-51 in that game.

USC’s Danelo found dead
University of Southern California kicker Mario Danelo was found dead Saturday about 120 feet down a rocky cliff near Point Fermin lighthouse in Los Angeles’ San Pedro section. He is the son of former Gonzaga Prep, Washington State University and NFL kicker Joe Danelo.
The body was reported by a passer-by at about 4:30 p.m., said Martha Garcia of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Danelo, 21, made 15 of 16 field goals this season and led the Trojans in scoring with 89 points. The junior made two field goals in the Rose Bowl on Monday to help USC beat Michigan 32-18.
Speaking on behalf of Trojans coach Pete Carroll, USC spokesman Tim Tessalone said: “We were stunned to hear about this tragedy. This is a great loss. Mario was a wonderful young man of high character.
“He was one heck of a kicker. He was a key ingredient in our success the past two years. The thoughts and prayers of the entire Trojan family go out to the Danelo family on this sad, sad day.”
The family declined to comment.
Mario Danelo graduated from San Pedro High School.
