Intentional car fire among calls
Spokane Valley Fire handled 186 emergency calls between Jan 2 and Monday, including a car fire investigators believe was set on purpose.
“Somebody was angry at somebody and lit a car on fire,” said Valley Fire spokesman Bill Clifford.
Three other reports of cars on fire that week turned out to be less serious.
Firefighters were called to eight fire alarms and nine reports of structure fires, mostly caused by downed power lines and other problems associated with heavy winds last weekend, Clifford said.
Weather also was a factor in some of the 17 vehicle accidents that week. Two involved trips to the hospital and two required extrications, Clifford said.
Fire personnel also took care of 139 medical calls, two service calls, two trash fires and three hazardous materials calls.
