Get out, get going

The curse of the car seat

» Just about every parent has let loose a naughty word or two while trying to wrestle a car seat into position in the back of the family car. The bad news is that once the seat is in and strapped down tight, odds are it has probably been installed incorrectly.

» The Spokane Regional Health District, which estimates that up to 80 percent of car seats are installed wrong, will provide experts to make sure it is hooked up properly. The free inspection will be today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at George Gee at 21502 E. Mission Lane in Liberty Lake. So motor on over and make sure everyone is strapped in correctly.

Have a voice

» Residents of Spokane Valley have two opportunities this week to make their voice heard on community projects. A workshop on the Sprague/Appleway revitalization plan will replace the usual weekly City Council meeting. The event will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Decades, 10502 E. Sprague.

» The second opportunity is an open house to discuss a project to improve drainage in the Beverly Hills neighborhood. The meeting will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Park Place Retirement Community, 601 S. Park Road. Call 921-1000 for more details.
