Spokane Valley plans to improve the drainage in the Beverly Hills neighborhood and will hold a meeting for residents interested in learning more about the project.

The neighborhood sits on a hillside between Park Road and the Dishman Hills Natural Area. It has a history of erosion and flooding problems that city engineers attribute to the pitch, soils and rock in the area.

Starting in the spring or early summer, the city plans to upgrade existing drainage equipment and install pipes, drywells and a swale. The work is expected to take two to three months.

The meeting will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, at the Park Place Retirement Community, 601 S. Park Road.
