Why do boys anchor spirit games?
If one reviews the GSL basketball schedule one finds that, quite sensibly, boys and girls game times alternate.
There appears to be one glaring and consistent exception. Never in the history of the GSL have girls games been scheduled as the later of the two during school competitions (i.e., Rubber Chicken, Stinky Sneaker, Groovy Shoes) when attendance peaks so to coincide with the judging of these positive spirited rival revelries. Does this practice implicitly affirm, in spite of Title IX progress, that boys’ athleticism assumes precedence over the girls’ in these events?
