Bligh, Peterson help Vikings beat Bulldogs

Nate Bligh scored 21 points on 9-of-15 shooting and Calvin Peterson added 14 points and six steals as Coeur d’Alene topped Sandpoint 69-51 Tuesday in an Inland Empire League boys game in Coeur d’Alene.

Leon Duplessis added 10 points and eight rebounds for the Vikings (9-4, 4-1), who outscored the Bulldogs 31-21 in the first half.

Drake Hanson scored 11 points to lead Sandpoint (5-8, 1-5).

Elsewhere in the IEL, Ty Stoddard scored 16 points and Jason Wheelock added 15 as Lake City (9-4, 3-2) topped Lakeland (0-11, 0-6) 53-41 in Rathdrum. Bubba Bartlett scored a team-high 15 points for the Hawks. … Shane Moser scored 19 points and Shad Strerath and Andrew Packwood each added 15 as Lewiston (9-2, 4-1) beat visiting Post Falls (7-6, 2-3) 63-55. The Bengals pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Trojans 20-12. Levi Buckles tallied 13 points to lead Post Falls.

“Jared Bilaski scored a game-high 21 points and Brian Lavergne added 17 as Wallace (7-5, 3-2) pounded host Mullan (1-12, 0-4) 74-41 in a North Star League game. Darrick Holmquist tossed in 15 points for the Miners, who outscored the Tigers 15-3 in the first quarter and led 36-13 at halftime. … In other league action, Anthony Cranford’s lay-in with 4.6 seconds left gave Kootenai (5-3, 2-1) a 55-54 win over Lakeside (6-6, 1-3) in Harrison. Ethan Patzer scored a team-high 16 points for the Warriors. Samuel Torpey led the Knights with 18 points.

“Todd Pinter scored a game-high 20 points and Gavin Burt added 15 as Garfield-Palouse (10-4) topped visiting Asotin 58-45 in a non-league contest. Saxon Wolf added five points and 10 boards for the Vikings, who outscored the Panthers 36-24 in the first half.

Junior Deanna Dotts scored 15 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, leading Coeur d’Alene (15-2, 9-0) to a 75-26 Inland Empire League win over visiting Sandpoint (1-15, 0-9). Sadie Simon added 14 points for the Vikings, who outscored the Bulldogs 16-4 in the first quarter and led 41-12 at halftime. Brittany Oakley led Sandpoint with nine points. … Elsewhere in the IEL, Jenny McVeigh scored 10 points and Post Falls (13-3, 6-2) held on for a 35-32 victory over host Lewiston (8-7, 4-4). The Trojans were able to hang on for the win after letting most of their 12-point halftime-lead disappear in the fourth quarter. … Katie Baker scored 21 points and Richelle Fenenbock added 13 as Lake City (15-2, 7-2) smashed Lakeland (6-10, 3-6) 68-33 in Rathdrum. Riki Moreland added 10 points for the Timberwolves, who outscored the Hawks 19-4 in the opening quarter. Natalie Nichols tallied 11 points to lead Lakeland.

“Katie Poston scored eight points and grabbed 11 rebounds as Bonners Ferry (10-7, 4-1) upset previously unbeaten Kellogg (16-1, 4-1) 30-23 in an Intermountain League game in Bonners Ferry. Camille Robertson added eight points for the Badgers, who outscored the Wildcats 10-2 in the third quarter to take an eight-point lead into the fourth. … In other league action, Elsa Krier and Darbie Shelden each scored eight points, leading St. Maries (4-12, 1-5) to a 35-21 win over visiting Timberlake (4-11, 1-4). “Lisa Carver and Krista Williams scored 18 points apiece, leading Wallace (7-9, 3-2) to a 60-29 North Star League win over host Mullan (1-13, 0-3). The Miners put the game away early, outscoring the Tigers 33-12 in the first half. Mullan’s Fawn Story tallied 23 points.
